Capel has been trading since 1982. Brad joined as a school leaver, learned the trade and later bought the business. Today he runs the team working across Sussex and Surrey.
From School Leaver To Running The Firm
Brad joined Capel straight out of school and learned the trade on the ground and in the trees. He later bought the company from the original owner. He now has over 20 years of tree work behind him.
The work ranges from pruning garden trees to dismantling large trees beside buildings. Brad plans the access, equipment and clear-up around each site.

Local Knowledge Still Matters
A narrow side gate, a shared drive or a conservatory beneath the branches can change how a job is done. The team checks these details before deciding where equipment can go and how timber will come down.
Let Brad know about parking, neighbouring properties and anything that needs protecting when you arrange the visit.
Keeping a tree where it can stay
If the problem is shade or branches over the roof, pruning may give you the clearance you need while retaining the tree.
Where removal is needed, the quote should cover how the tree will come down, what happens to the timber and whether the stump is included.
What happens when you call
Tell Brad where the tree is, what has changed and what you want to do with the space. Mention fallen branches, restricted access or nearby buildings.
He can discuss the next step and arrange a visit where needed. Before you book the work, agree the scope, price and what will be cleared afterwards.
If you are unsure about a term in the quote, ask. You should know which branches are being cut and what the finished job includes.
How Capel Prices A Job
Tree size is only part of the price. Brad also needs to see how the team will reach it, what is underneath and how the timber can leave the site.
Tree size, access and clearance affect the price. A crown lift in an open garden needs different equipment and time from dismantling a tree over a garage. Send photographs of the tree and its surroundings, and explain the work you want.

Pruning or crown reduction may solve the problem while retaining the tree. Brad will assess its condition and discuss whether that is suitable.

Agree what should leave the site and what you want to keep. Timber, logs, woodchip and stump grinding should be clear in the quote.
