What the job involves

People call about tree removal when the tree has become the problem. It's dead. It's too close. It fell in the storm and the rest of it looks like it's going the same way. Or it's been blocking the extension plans for three years and the planning approval finally came through. Whatever the reason, the job starts with confirming that removal actually is the right answer, not the most convenient one, and then working out the safest way to do it given the specific site.

  • Check that removal is the right call. Sometimes reduction or monitoring is the better answer
  • Assess the access, the structures nearby, the drop zones, and what timber handling the site allows
  • Plan the method: straight fell where possible, sectional takedown where not
  • Remove the timber and brash in a sensible working order, protecting the site as we go
  • Advise on stump grinding, replanting, fencing, or whatever the space needs next

Tree Removal
From the job

A mature garden ash had become unsafe after losing most of its canopy to dieback. Access was tight, a single gate and a raised patio between the tree and the street. We dismantled it in sections over one day, cleared the timber, and left the site ready for stump grinding and new planting. The customer had been putting it off for a year.

Questions People Ask

Before you book tree removal.

How much does tree removal cost?

Depends on the tree, the access, and what's around it. A garden conifer with a clear drop zone is a different job to a mature oak wedged between a conservatory and next door's fence. Brad prices after seeing it, not from a description down the phone.

Do I need permission to remove a tree in my garden?

Only if it's protected. Check whether it's covered by a Tree Preservation Order or sits inside a conservation area, both mean asking the council first. Outside those, it's your tree and your call. If you're not sure which applies, give us the address and we'll check before anything gets cut.

What happens to the tree once it's removed?

Timber and brash are cleared as part of the job, not left for you to deal with. Want logs kept for firewood? Say so before we start and we'll set them aside instead of chipping the lot.

Can you remove a dangerous tree the same day?

For genuinely dangerous trees, storm damage, or anything resting on a building, yes. Call and describe what's happened and where. Routine removals get booked in like any other job.
